Meet Austin - An All-Together Housing Success Story
“My name is Austin and I'm a 28-year-old male. I struggle with depression, anxiety and PTSD from past physical, verbal and emotional abuse. I also have a genetic condition which causes me to be in pain all the time, some days it's debilitating. I have difficulty reading people and situations, and as a result I've ended up in several harmful housing situations, which sounded promising in the beginning but quickly turned into nightmares.
“In the year and a half prior to moving into Sidney Place I have moved four times, from one unsafe pace to another, ending up in a dangerous situation. I was disrespected, lied to, berated, isolated, and threatened. I had thoughts of suicide often, and both my mental and physical health declined. I had very few supports and felt isolated and hopeless.
“With the help of All Together Housing, I landed at Sidney Place earlier this year, and this has made such a huge difference in my life.
“I'm in a safe place. I'm treated with respect and kindness. I'm able to be alone, but do not feel isolated because I've met many good people here. I feel like I'm understood and find support available for me when I need it. The building is also fully accessible, so I don't have to worry when my body gives out on me. I'm now able to focus on my mental and physical health, rather than focusing on simply surviving.”

Provides the support and counselling of the Partnership Co-ordinator for one week. It is this role that makes the most critical difference in the lives of All-Together Housing residents.
