 Sidney Place

Welcome to Sidney Place, Belleville’s newest affordable housing opportunity. Located at 450 Sidney Street, the project is a much welcomed response to the area’s affordable housing crisis. Sidney Place is a mix of affordable and market rent units, ensuring diversity and long-term sustainability. Two separate multi-unit residences share common spaces that encourage community. Sidney Place first opened in October of 2018.

Sidney Place and its owners [Maps Development] provided the first home for the Quinte Community & Housing First Partnership. The partnership recognizes the critical role played by landlords in providing safe, affordable housing and the equally important role of community agencies in supporting vulnerable individuals in their ‘home’ and in the broader community.

The partnership is made up a landlord (MAPS Development Corporation), five community agencies who provide support to the tenants, a lead agency (All-Together Housing) responsible for fundraising and providing a Co-ordinator whose key job is to foster positive collaborative relationships among all parties in the Partnership with the goal of producing successful tenancies in an inclusive, engaged community.

All-Together housing is proud to have received an Ontario Trillium Foundation SEED Grant and a City of Belleville Social Infrastructure Fund grant. Their funding made this unique supportive housing model possible and today, Sidney Place is our model for future projects; especially Great St. James that will open early in 2022.

 What Makes Sidney Place Unique?

Sidney Place was built with the latest high quality building standards in mind. Built by MAPS Development, the building is modern, meets universal design standards for accessibility and uses high quality building materials that meet and usually exceed building codes. From windows to insulation to high efficiency appliance, Sidney Place provides a safe and comfortable home for everyone who lives there.

Having a support structure for residents is also critical to the success of Sidney Place. Common areas were built and are used and maintained by residents. Whether the common room or garden area are used, residents regularly support each other, celebrate milestones and attend educational sessions hosted by others in the community or by the partner agencies.

To ensure that all resident needs are being met, All-Together Housing hired the Quinte Community & Housing First Partnership Co-ordinator. This innovative, support Co-ordinator is active in the buildings, working with residents and providing case reports to the partner agencies as needed. The role performed is truly unique and recognizes that at risk populations need not only a safe place to live but also a support network, and our Partner Agencies can directly provide that support.

Special Thanks to our Agency Partners

Donations to All Together Housing support this innovative and supportive network by ensuring that the Community Partner Coordinator can continue to facilitate communication among the partner agencies and focus on the wellness of the resident community.
